Quarantine Activities

goodbye Cullen 221!!

Hey everyone!! In this post, I wanted to share some of the things I have been doing to stay busy during quarantine, but before all of that, I wanted to share how I have been feeling!

The first feeling I had when getting sent home from school was sad. This picture of my roommate and I was taken on the day we moved out, and we are smiling in this picture, but on the inside happiness was the last thing we were felling. I felt like I wasn’t going to get to experience all the fun things you do as a freshman. I do realize that is such a small problem, compared to everything else going on, but I have realized it is also okay to feel this way. This is such a weird and unknown situation for everyone, which almost makes me feel a little better about feeling so lost because everyone else is too. You are not alone in that!

After being at home for a few weeks now, I have started to become more okay with everything going on, and now I am just trying to make the best out of this situation. When are we going to get the chance again to be forced to stay at home? I also know not everyone is staying at home! There are so many people still working and it is important we show them all the love… especially healthcare workers!

But if you are at home like me I want to give a few things to do to stay busy, so you don’t get bored and waste this time away!

Go on walk

Walking has turned into almost a daily thing for me! Moving my body makes me feel better, but also sleep better. I have realized you don’t always have to do the hardest and most intense workout. Today I walked 10 miles and I think I did way more than a quick cardio workout that I am used to doing. It’s also good to get some fresh air!

Get Creative

I have loved doing crafts!! This is not normally something I take time to do because I am not the best at them, but they are so much fun! They also pass a lot of time. I made a scrapbook last week, and it took me all afternoon. I have also made some bracelets and have done some painting. I encourage you to just have fun with it, don’t take it too seriously, and try something new!

Baking

I have looooveed baking recently! I haven’t baked in forever since I have been in a dorm room, so I am really taking advantage of my kitchen while I am home. So far I have baked a banana/strawberry bread, a lemon/blueberry bread, and I am trying to make some healthy chocolate chip cookies, but I am still working on that recipe!

Deep clean your room

Okay so this is not the most fun thing in the world, but it did make me feel so much better. I have been doing small parts at a time, so it hasn’t been that bad. Might as well get it done why you have the time!

Grow relationships

When I came home from college, I was so upset because I had to leave people I loved so much. I thought when high school was over I would never be back at home for this long, but God has another plan! Since I am home, I am trying to take the time to get closer to my family, and also to the Lord! I am almost being forced to spend daily time with my family and with Jesus. This can be hard, but when else are you going to get this opportunity! Sometimes all you need is a mindset change.

Work on a new project

Is there something you have always wanted to do and have not had the time? I am sure there is if you really think about it and now is your chance. I have set a goal to work on my blog more because I enjoy it so much, but it was hard to manage it all at school. Now I have no excuses and nothing in the way, so I am really focused on that right now. I am also super excited because my bestie Emma and I have been talking about starting a podcast for a few months now, and we are finally putting it into action! Follow us on Instagram @morningcoffeepodcast to follow along on the journey!!

I hope this post encouraged you and gave you some more ideas on some things you could do during this crazy time. Remember just take it one day at a time and we will get through this together. Leave a comment on what has made you happy during quarantine! Stay home and stay healthy!
